Source of truth

A set of information.

Convenient to reduce one’s known reality to a “single” Source of Truth to effectively reduce the need for cognitive capacity.

The earliest example I can think of is the ancient Sun Dial.

This offered a source of truth we now know as Time, allowing people to design schedules and add structure to their days.

Today, we have such a “unified” source of truth that we can easily dismiss our own inner truth in lieu of what is going on around us. The mass centralization of data lets certain companies who own and process this data have unproportional mind control by targeting the psyche with robust influence.
